Trades & Renovation

Trades and renovation in the kitchen bring together skilled professionals to transform outdated spaces into modern, functional hubs of the home. From plumbing and electrical work to custom cabinetry and finishes, each trade plays a vital role in crafting a high-quality kitchen renovation.

Demolition (Rip-Out)

For large-scale rip-outs, such as removing floor tiles or structural elements, we recommend hiring specialist stripping companies. If any preservation or structural carpentry is needed, a skilled carpenter is often more appropriate.

Plasterer

During a kitchen renovation, a plasterer plays a key role in preparing walls and ceilings for the final finish. Typically, two site visits are needed.

The first visit takes place after plumbing and electrical rough-ins, where the plasterer patches holes and preps surfaces for upcoming work. The second visit happens once the new kitchen is installed, focusing on final patching, cornice installation or repairs, and adding any decorative mouldings to ensure a seamless, polished result.

Plumbing & Electrical

Retaining your kitchen’s current location helps minimise plumbing and electrical costs. These services are typically split into two stages:

  • Rough-in: Preparing plumbing and wiring during construction
  • Fit-off: Final installation of appliances, fixtures, and lighting after cabinetry is installed

Ensure your appliances are on-site before the fit-off stage to avoid installation issues.

Tiler

A tiler is only needed if you've chosen a tiled splashback or floor for your kitchen renovation. Tiled splashbacks have seen a strong resurgence in recent years, thanks to a wide variety of new materials, patterns, and colours now available. Homeowners can explore endless design options, including distinctive shapes and finishes, to bring added character and visual appeal to their kitchens.

Trades & Renovation

Trade Coordination

At Maya Cabinets, we work with a trusted network of licensed, professional tradespeople who understand our standards and processes.

We offer trade coordination for a small fee, ensuring you avoid the cost of a full project manager while maintaining a streamlined schedule and high-quality results.

Alternatively, you’re welcome to supply your own trades. Just remember that in Victoria, plumbers and electricians must be licensed and must issue a Compliance Certificate upon completion required for insurance purposes.

Structural Work

While Maya Cabinets is a registered domestic builder, some renovations involving structural works like removing walls or relocating doors may require a separate builder. We can recommend reliable professionals and coordinate closely with them during your project.

In such cases, the builder will oversee all structural and compliance aspects, while our team handles the cabinetry design, supply, and installation.
